Locke Park has been an open green space at the heart of Barnsley since 1861 but has been dramatically updated in the last decade. The park has been landscaped to include a new play area, paddling pool and an events space alongside the existing bandstand. The play area is suitable for kids up to the age of 14 and there is also a bowling green and pavilion. The terraced gardens are a joy to see in spring and summer and there is an Observation Tower on the site, now listed, that gives 360-degree views of the city. There is even a small aviary within the boundaries.
For the latest opening times, we suggest that you visit the attraction's website.
